Show & Tell Tuesday {Parties}

One of my favorite things to do is to plan parties.
For some people, throwing parties is stressful to them, but to me, it is therapeutic!
It gives me a chance to use my creativity (which I don't get to use all that much teaching math. Ha!)
I always jump at the chance to throw or host a party, whether it is a birthday party for my kids, a bridal or baby shower, holiday with family or a special get together with friends.

Today I am linking up with Andrea for Show & Tell Tuesday.
Last month the topic was Favorite Kids Parties,  today's topic is Grown Up Parties!

If you have been reading my blog for awhile, you know I LOVE throwing parties!

Here are some of my favorite parties I have thrown:
Get ready for Party Overload :)

 Favorite Baby Showers:

My younger sister's last name is Baker, so I told her if she ever had a baby girl, I wanted to throw her a Cookies & Milk Baby Shower...last name Baker...get it?
Well, last year she found out that Baby #2 was a girl, so I started planning the Cookies & Milk Shower!
This shower was simple & fun.
We had it in the afternoon & had appetizers & of course Cookies!

Favorite Wedding Showers:
When my sister got married 6 years ago, I threw her 2 bridal showers, but one of my favorite ones was the Around the Clock Bridal Shower.

Each guest was given their own time & their gift was something that Rebecca & Jason would use during that time of day.
We had 18 guests, so I gave out times from 7am until midnight.
It was fun!

Another fun idea for a bridal shower is what we did at her Something Blue shower.
When I sent out the invitations, I also included a blank recipe card & a note that said to include your favorite recipe in order to build Rebecca's cooking repertoire.

When I got married, one of our family friends did this for one of my Wedding Showers & it was so great to have a collection of great recipes. That is where I got my Taco Soup recipe!

Adult Birthday Parties:
5 1/2 years ago, my Grammy turned 100, so we threw her a 100th Birthday party.
It's not very often people get to throw (or attend!) a 100th birthday party :)
When someone is turning 100, you can send a letter to Willard Scott to see if they will announce them on the Today Show. Grammy wasn't announced, but he did send a letter back.

You can also send a letter to the White House and will get a birthday card from the President!

And, you can see her 101st through 105th parties HERE
Grammy will be turning 106 this October...stay tuned for her 106th birthday party this Fall.

Another one of my favorite adult birthday parties was Kevin's Surprise 40th Taco Truck Fiesta!

Who doesn't love a taco truck?!?!

When I turned 35 a couple years ago, I got a limo and went wine tasting in Napa with some of my girlfriends!

Pioneer Woman Potluck Party
I threw a Pioneer Woman Potluck Party in 2012 & 2013.
It's so fun. You get a group of girlfriends and each person brings a dish from Pioneer Woman (her cookbook or her website)
Each person brought a PW dish & I had them email me what they were bringing so there were no duplicates.
Here are some photos from the 2012 party:

I love PW & so do my friends, so this is a great way to try a bunch of her recipes.

I love PW Potluck parties & need to host one again!

Favorite Things Party:
I have thrown 2 Favorite Things Party, one in 2011 and another one in 2015
I need to throw another one! Love these parties.
Here are some photos from the 2011 party:

The invite stated to bring 3 of your favorite thing costing that costs $10 or less.
I have seen Favorite Things Parties where you bring 5 of something costing $5 or less, but because our party was small (only 6 of us) we did 3 presents.

You go home with 3 new favorite things that your friends brought!

  5. You are the party queen, and I found your blog a few years back while searching for party ideas! Thanks for always being an inspiration! That Pioneer Woman party sounds so fun- I love her, and I'm super into Trisha Yearwood lately too. May have to steal the food truck party idea - it would be nice to get to enjoy more of the party that way!
