Water for Christmas and A Winner!

Can you believe it?
We built another well!!!
$5,130 raised in a week.
Lives will forever be changed because of YOUR donations!!!!
AMAZING.
Thank you, Thank You, Thank You!
I have to admit, I wasn't sure we were going to pull it off again this year.
After the first day, I wasn't very optimistic. And, by Friday we hadn't even reached half our goal.
But God had a plan & he surprised us once again & moved in Big ways.
The donations came flooding in this weekend & by 7 pm tonight, the well was fully funded.
I am humbled, I am in awe. Lives Changed. To God be the Glory!

Did you know that Project 320 was named because of the verse Ephesians 3:20?
"Now glory be to God! By HIS mighty power at work within us, He is able to accomplish infinitely more than we would ever dare to ask or hope."

This verse spoke SO loudly to us this year.
Thank you from the bottom of all our hearts for joining in with us this year!
Thank You for Giving water this Christmas.

And, I have a winner for my bundle!!!
Congrats, Jonnique!

I want to leave you all with the 2011 Advent Conspiracy Video

Charity Water + Project 320 Update

For the past few years, God has put something on my heart.
Water.
The lack of clean water in our world, especially 3rd world countries breaks my heart.

In Africa alone, people spend 40 billion hours every year just walking for water. Women and children usually bear the burden of water collection, walking miles to the nearest source, which is unprotected and likely to make them sick.
Time spent walking and resulting diseases keep them from school, work and taking care of their families.
This is not okay.

For the past few years, I have been a part of Project 320 with 5 other bloggers who also have a heart for water & with your help we have been able to raise money through charity:water to build wells for villages in Africa.

My husband's heart has also been broken by lack of clean water.
2 years ago, he was a small group leader for a group of high school seniors.
Our church had a pay it forward campaign and certain people at our church were given $100 and challenged to multiply that money or do something good with that money.
Kevin took $100 for his small group of high school boys and they decided they wanted to use that $100 to help fund a well through charity:water.
The high school boys set up a page on charity:water & then at school carried around a Jerry Can (the cans they use to collect water in Africa) and got donations from students & teachers. After a few months, they raised over $5000, enough for a well. The high school boys named their well project "LIFE WELL" because they knew that water is LIFE. And, by building a well, a village would now have new life. This was in the Spring 2010. They found out this Spring that their well was being built in Ethiopia. Last month, Kevin got an email from a woman, Viktoria, who works at charity:water saying she just came back from Ethiopia visiting the village where their well was built. The well was completed & working. The people in the village were so incredibly grateful. Here is a letter that Viktoria (who works for charity:water) sent Kevin:

Hi Kevin,

I work here at charity: water and I just got back from a trip to Ethiopia where we happened to visit the community where your well is currently serving people with clean water!
I thought you might like to see some photos, and a little video of it.

Also, the village gave us a beautifully framed photo of what their water looked like before, and what the well looks like after. They went through great lengths to go to the
nearest town and get it printed and framed, so I thought I'd mail it to you. If you can give me your mailing address, I'll send that along. I also have an Ethiopian scarf they gave me as a gift, so
I'll pass that on to you too.

You'll get a formal report from charity: water a few months from now, (it takes us some time to gather all the data and report back to everyone on their water projects) but I thought
I'd get this to you right away as I was just there.

Thanks so much for what you do for charity: water, I know the people here are so thankful, and so excited to be drinking clean water.
Viktoria Harrison

Along with the letter, she attached these pictures of the villagers with the well:
Clean, fresh water has now saved this village. I get chills every time I see these pictures.
Close up of the plaque on the well.
It says Life Well, funded by Charity:Water.
The villagers were so grateful to Kevin & his group of high school boys that when Viktoria was in Ethiopia, they wanted to give her something to give to Kevin & the guys.
They took pictures of their water, before and after.
They traveled to another town to get the pictures framed.
Here are the villagers with the frame:
And, here is the frame that arrived at our house from Charity:Water via the small village in Ethiopia:
The village also sent an Ethiopian scarf that one of the woman in the village made as a thank you.
Amazing, Amazing, Amazing.
If this doesn't move you, I don't know what will.

Thousands of people die each day because of lack of clean water.
But, you can make a difference.
Here's how:
In 2009, Project 320 was formed & with the help of all of you, we raised over $10,000 and funded 2 wells. 2 villages in Africa have clean water because of YOU.
Last year, in 2010, we raised over $5,000 and built another well that has changed the lives of the people in a village.
It's 2011, which means it's time to build another well!
We still have water on our hearts and minds.
We still want to do what we can to change lives half a world away.

We are going to use the same model we used last year for Project 320.

Monday, December 12th will kick off Project 320 Giveaway week.

We are inviting anyone with a blog, be it one followed by millions or dozens, to host a giveaway.
Handmade, vintage, or store bought. Freedom and creativity is the only guideline. It could be one pretty thing, or a whole bundle of fabulous.

Each $10 donation to the 2011 Project 320 Well will count for one entry in one giveaway.

Each blogger is then individually responsible for choosing a winner, verifying the donation, and shipping off the prize(s).

Little things= Big changes.

First thing Monday morning, a linky will be set up on the Project 320 page for you to add in your giveaway post.
Then use social media for good and spread the word.

Until then, think of what you would like to give away.
Post our button in your sidebar.
Write up a sneak peek post.
Pray.
Be ready to help change the world one village at a time.

Can't wait to see what God does next week!
Let's build another Well!!!
I hope you will join us!

Advent Conspiracy

On this first day of Advent 2010, I dare you to watch this video from Advent Conspiracy & not be changed.

I have watched this video every year for the past couple of years and it brings tears to my eyes every time. It wrecks me. In a good way.

So, how can you change your Christmas traditions & be a part of the Advent Conspiracy?

Here are awesome organizations that we support :

Charity:Water - a non-profit organization bringing clean and safe drinking water to people in developing nations. 100% of public donations fund water projects.
Charity:Water is the organization we used for Project 320 last year & we were able to fund 2 wells in Africa. Kevin's high school small group funded a well in the Spring through Charity:Water during our church's Kingdom Assignment Outreach. We are using Charity:Water again this year for Project 320...details coming soon.

Heifer Project (donate an animal to give a family a source of food for a year. A few years ago, one of my students donated a goat in my name.
Best Christmas present from a student. EVER.

Compassion International - sponsor a kid for $38 a month to give them food, shelter, education, health care and the opportunity to learn about Jesus in a neighborhood church program.

Adopt a Family,
Feed the homeless,
Make a Blessed to Bless Bag,
Angel Tree, Operation Christmas Child,
Donate cans to a Food Bank.

Do Something.

Spend Less. Give More.

It's not about the gifts. It's about the birth of Christ.

Make this CHRISTmas meaningful.

Here we go again!

Last year, my friend Julie came up with an amazing idea.
A goal to raise $5,000 with the organization charity:water and build a well in Africa.
Her vision was to have Bloggers & Crafters help raise this money by raffling off donated homemade items.
Because of her vision, Project 320 was born.

Julie enlisted the help of myself, Erin, Heather G, Heather M and Marta to help organize Project 320. We spent a weekend last December gathering all the homemade items and putting bundles together.

Guess what?
We didn't raise $5,000....we raised over $10,000...enough money for TWO villages to have wells and access to clean water.
God is Good and does more that we could have ever asked!
Right now, those TWO wells are being built in Ethiopia because of the money that was raised last year. They should be completed next year.

We want to raise money for another well this year!
We know that through God, anything is possible!
By joining our hearts, our talents, our passions, we can do infinitely more than we could ever dare to ask or hope.
Want to join in and help us this year?
Leave me a comment!

Or, email us at:
project320blog {@} gmail.com

And, Be sure to check out the Project 320 blog.

Here we go again.....Let's build another well!

10 on 10 :: August 2010

10 on 10: Take a photo every hour for ten consecutive hours on the tenth of each month. Document a day of your life and find beauty among the ordinary moments!

Happy 10th!
This was a super fun day for me because I have a friends in town staying at my house!
Julie & Erin came up from So Cal for a Project 320 reunion to visit myself, Heather G. & Heather M.

Erin helping the girls make breakfast....We made Monkey Bread, of course!
Claire playing outside in the backyard while we wait for Monkey Bread to bake.
Kate's chalk drawing in the backyard:
Then we all ventured out to Target & found these cute shoes for only $10.
After Target, it was time for lunch (actually it 3:00, so it was PAST lunchtime)
I took everyone to one of my favorite sandwich places & I got my favorite sandwhich ever.
Roast turkey, cream cheese, cranberry sauce & avocado. YUM!
After lunch, we went to Joann's Fabric to buy fabric.
Heather, Julie & Erin (all these girls are super crafty. I am not so crafty)
Picture of Julie's quilt that she was working on:
(she took this picture on my camera)
Here is a picture of how our Target shoes were transformed.
Erin made cute fabric roses & she put them on the shoes.
Mine are the black shoes with red roses (try to ignore my pasty white legs)
The 5 of us at dinner (we missed you Marta!)
These girls are creative, amazing & inspiring! It is a privilege to share life with them!
It was such a fun day hanging out with friends, shopping, crafting, talking & eating!

Hope you had a great tenth!

P.S.
Thank you so much to everyone for the nice comments on my Blogoversary post!
You still have 4 more days to enter the giveaway, be sure to enter if you haven't already!

Infinitely More

WE DID IT.
We just built a well.

I kept checking the progress of our well & was THRILLED when at 2:15 pm I saw this on my computer screen:
We reached $5,000 (and then some!)

When I saw this, I cried.

Tears of joy, tears of amazement.

Couldn't believe we reached our goal 2 days into the raffle!

Thank you to everyone who donated prizes and money for the well.

250 lives now promised clean, safe water for years to come.

An entire village will be changed.

A boy like this:
Will now have this:
I am amazed.

So, what's next?

We changed our goal to $10,000.

Let's build 2 wells!

Because God can do infinitely more than we would ever dare to ask or hope.
He has already proven this to us.

Go HERE to donate & don't forget there are 3 more days of giveaways on our Project 320 blog!

Whirlwind

Last night I got back from my whirlwind trip to So Cal for Project 320.
Friday afternoon Heather G, Heather M and I packed up my Tahoe & made the long drive to So Cal. We left an hour later than we originally planned, but it worked out great. There was basically no traffic & it took us exactly 6 hours to get to Erin's house.
Can you believe how packed my Tahoe was?
We were only gone for 48 hours, but we had lots of things to bring!
That night, Julie brought over all the donations that were sent to her. Our goal was 100 items. We lost count at 300! We couldn't believe the overwhelming support of this project.
SO many donations!!!!
We were up until 3am that night unpacking items & sorting them into prize bundles.
Instead of having 10 bundles with 10 items in each bundle, we ended up with 15 prize bundles with 20 items in each bundle! Amazing!

After a few hours of sleep on Friday night we were up Saturday morning & went to breakfast to have a mini-baby shower for Heather who is due with baby Gianna in March.
Awesome diaper cake that Erin made:
Then after a Trader Joe's stop & Coffee Bean run, it was back to work organizing the prizes, documenting who gave what prizes & taking pictures of all the prize bundles.
(oh yeah, and lots of cooking & eating!)
We took another break Saturday night to throw Julie a mini-birthday party.
It isn't a party if you don't have cupcakes!
How awesome is the banner that Heather M. made? Seriously talented!
Marta & I...the tall girls representing!
Then it was time to finish taking pictures of the bundles, write posts, make sure we knew the etsy shop or blog of each person who gave an item & then edit the pictures for the blog posts.

Here is a snapshot of all the boxes that each hold a bundle of prizes.
Needless to say, we were all up until 4 am getting everything organized.

Good thing all of us are night owls!

A few hours of sleep & then us Nor Cal girls packed it up & headed home.

It was an amazing weekend with wonderful girls.

We all totally clicked, worked so well together, and laughed the entire two days.

Good food, lots of laughs with inspiring and talented women with amazing hearts.

Thank you to Kevin who took such great care of our girls while I was gone!

Thank you Julie, Erin, Heather G, Heather M & Marta for a memorable 2 days I will forever cherish and never forget!

I am so honored to be a part of Project 320.

The giveaways started today! Each day we are raffling off 3 amazing bundles of prizes.

Donate $10 to our WELL.
For each $10 you donate you will get one entry into the bundle of your choice.
If you donate $50 you get 5 entries.
1 comment = one entry.

After you make your donation, go to the Project 320 blog.
comment under which bundle you would like to win!

We have already raised over $4,000.
UNBELIEVABLE!!!

p.s. If you go to my friend Wendy's blog and comment on her Clean Water post, she will donate $2 per comment toward our well! Thanks, Wendy!
