Oreo Mud Pie Ice Cream Cake

Growing up, birthday cake was not my favorite thing.
My mom usually made me brownies for my birthday.
We would have brownies & ice cream for my birthday dessert.
Sometimes, instead of brownies, we would have Oreo Mudpie Ice Cream Cake.
Yeah, you heard that right. Oreo Mudpie Ice Cream Cake.
It's as heavenly as it sounds.
Are you ready to get a recipe to one of the yummiest & easiest desserts out there?

Here is what you need:

1/2 gallon of Mudpie Ice Cream (or Coffee Ice Cream)
Package of Oreos (you will use the entire package)
1/3 cup butter
1 jar Fudge Topping

Step 1:
Put Oreos in a gallon ziplock bag
Crush cookies with a rolling pin.
Save 2 cups of crushed oreo for the garnish.
Next, take the butter and chop it up into pieces.
Put the all crushed cookies (except the 2 cups you set aside) & butter in a bowl. Take off your rings & use your hands to mix it all together. Your hands will be quite messy...but it's worth it!
Press into a 9x13 pan & freeze for 30 minutes.
After 15 minutes, take out the carton of ice cream & let it soften for about 15 minutes.
Then, take out the dish and drop large spoonfuls of the ice cream over the oreo cookie mixture.
Once you have used the entire container of ice cream, I smooth it out with a spatula & then put back in the freeze.
After it has been in the freezer for 2-3 hours, take it out & put the fudge on.
I microwave the fudge for about a minute & then pour it on.

Spread the fudge over the top of the cake.

Spread the fudge evenly over the ice cream. Then, add the remaing 2 cups of crushed Oreo & sprinkle on the top.

Put back in freezer for at least another hour.

This dessert is so yummy and chocolately.
It is a family favorite
It is a great dessert to make because you can make it ahead of time.
 So easy. So tasty.
The best part about this cake is that you can make it with other types of ice cream.
Another favorite of ours is using mint chip ice cream.

Enjoy!

  2. We make the same dessert using mint choco chip ice cream, minus the choco sauce - and hands down it it the BEST!!! - but we melt the butter first - makes it so much easier to mix w/the crushed oreos! - but you don't get to lick your fingers, like you can your way!
    LOVE you recipes and blog!!!

  4. I made it tonight for football night. So easy! Because we are a small family, I got the regular size Oreo bag, used 1/2 stick of butter, and a bit less ice cream. Totally missed the step where you freeze it and the pour the fudge on. I just put it on. Wasn't the easiest, but saved two hours and tasted awesome. Thanks for a recipe we will use many times!
