Slow Cooker Broccoli Beef

I don't know about you, but Chinese food is one of my favorite types of food.
We are lucky that here in the Bay Area we have tons of good Chinese restaurants.
3 favorite things to order are Orange Chicken, Sweet & Sour Pork and Broccoli Beef.
There is a hole in the wall Chinese food take out place that we love & it only does take out.
They changed their menu earlier this year and they don't have Broccoli Beef anymore!
What?!?! I was so bummed, I love Broccoli Beef.
So, I decided to make my own broccoli beef....and I made it in my crock pot!
It turned out so good, so I knew I had to share with you guys!
Here is what you need:
3/4 cup beef broth
1/4 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup oyster sauce
1/3 cup brown sugar
1 Tablespoon sesame oil
1 or 2 Tablespoons Chili paste (this is a little spicy, so leave it out if you want or adjust amount to your liking)
2 Tablespoons of minced garlic
2 pounds boneless beef chuck roast, thinly sliced
(Did you know that at your grocery store, you can have the butcher slice it for you? Just find a package of boneless beef, take it to the butcher, tell him you want it sliced thinly and they will do that & repackage it for you in less than 5 minutes? I love my butcher!)
3 Tablespoons cornstarch
1 bag of broccoli florets (or 2 heads of broccoli, chopped into florets)
Optional:
-Sriracha for garish...I love Sriracha...it gives a good kick!

Directions:
In your slow cooker,  whisk together beef broth, soy sauce, oyster sauce, sugar, chili paste, sesame oil and garlic.
Place beef into slow cooker & cover with the sauce.
Cover and cook on low heat for 3 hours.
In a small bowl, whisk together 1/4 cup water and 3 T of cornstarch.
Stir in cornstarch mixture and broccoli into the slow cooker.
Cover and cook on high heat for an additional 30 minutes.
Give it a good stir & it's ready to serve!
You can serve this over white or brown rice.
I made this earlier in the week and realized I was out of rice, but I did have a bag of Trader Joe's Riced Cauliflower....have you had it?
It is awesome...it tastes just like rice.
I didn't tell Kevin it was Cauliflower rice....he thought it was regular rice!
If you live near a Trader Joe's, be sure and try it.
You microwave the bag for 4 minutes & then it is done. So easy!
It sells out all the time, so I usually buy 3-4 bags at once!
The cauliflower rice even looks like regular rice!
I love Sriracha, so I add some Sriracha on top of my serving of Broccoli Beef.
I may have a Sriracha addiction.
Kevin doesn't like Sriracha, so he has his Broccoli Beef without it. More Sriracha for me!
This Slow Cooker Broccoli Beef serves 6 adults.
This recipe is SO easy to make and it is healthy for you!

As a working mom with 3 kids, my slow cooker is one of my favorite kitchen items.
I use it at least once a week.

  2. Confession: I bought 10 bags of the Cauliflower Rice yesterday when I was at Trader Joe's. It is always sold out at our store, so when I saw it, I hoarded it. Yikes.
Adding this to my menu plan for next week (since I have tons of Cauliflower Rice to serve with it. LOL

    1. It's always sold out at my local store too! My roommate and I buy separate groceries so even though I only shop for myself, I bought four bags last time I was at TJ's hahaha

  6. I made this for dinner last night and it worked out great! I realized about 2.5 hours into cooking it that I'd accidentally set it for high instead of low. I was worried I'd ruined it, but it still tastes delicious. About to heat it up for lunch now. Thank you!!

  10. I’m planning to make this on Monday but I wanted to double check... 2 tablespoons minced garlic, or 2 tsp? I use the pre-minced garlic and my jar says 1/2 tsp=1 clove, so 2 Tablespoons seems like a lot!
