Favorite Things Party {2015}

A few days before Christmas I had another Favorite Things Party!
I threw a party like this in 2011 & have been wanting to throw another one because it was so fun!

One of my favorite things about throwing parties is figuring out the colors/theme.
When I had my Favorite Things Party in 2011, it was a "brown paper packages tied up in string" and stripes theme.
You can see the 2011 Favorite Things Party post {HERE}

For this party, I wanted to update it a little bit, so here is went I went with:

I printed everything on brown paper again this year to once again incorporate "brown paper packages"

The party started at 7pm and I told my friends there would be drinks, heavy appetizers, & desserts.

Here is the drink station:

I had a variety of drinks:

The cranberry lime spritzer was tonic water, fresh limes, frozen cranberries, a splash of cranberry juice & a splash of vodka:
I had all the appetizers on my Dining Room Table.

A Veggie Tray that I attempted to make look like a Christmas Tree:

Carmelized Onion & Feta Pastry Puffs:
Spinach Stuffed Mushrooms:
Bacon Wrapped Dates stuffed with an Almond & Goat Cheese:
I used my bacon wrapped date recipe {HERE} but added an almond & dollop of goat cheese inside. Delicious!

Cheese spread:
And crackers:

My favorite...Bacon & Blue Cheese Dip!
Recipe {HERE}
Pioneer Women's Artichoke Dip:

Shrimp....

 For Desserts, I had a table full of Christmas Cookies that I had made:

Candy Cane Kisses Cookies {Recipe HERE}
Ultimate Ginger Cookie {Recipe HERE}
Peanut Butter Ritzies {Recipe HERE}
Snickerdoodles {Recipe HERE}
Christmas Monster Cookies {Recipe HERE}
I made some signs to put on the dessert table:
A bouquet of Christmas flowers:
This was an easy dessert table since the girls and I made cookies for friends/family the day before the party!
I had the ladies take home goody bags full of cookies after the party!

On my kitchen island I made 2 more signs with song lyrics:
I also had a warm drink station:

If you aren't familiar with a favorite things party, each guest brings 3 of their favorite thing wrapped up individually. We said it had to be under $10.
This is what I brought wrapped up:

I had everyone put their favorite things by the fire place:
Then each girl wrote their name on 3 pieces of paper. We passed around the bowl with everyone's names in it and then we each pulled 3 names out of the bowl. If you pulled your own name, you put it back & pulled a new one.  Then we just started with one of us and whoever had our name, we distributed our presents to the girls who pulled our name. As they were opening the present, the person who gave that present said why it was their favorite thing. We went around in the circle until all gifts were distributed.

Each person went home with 3 new gifts!
Here is a pic of what people brought as their favorite thing under $10:

Chocolate dipped apple from a local chocolate shop in town
 $10 Nordstrom Gift Card
Fuzzy Slipper Socks (just like the blardigan but socks)
 Mascara
Wet Brush
 1 month Spotify membership
 Corkcicle (this is what I brought & it was on sale for $10.99)

Group Photo of the ladies:
It was such fun night! I like keeping the Favorite Things Party with under 10 ladies because it is nice to have a smallish group so we can really chat & catch up.
So thankful to have these ladies in my life! And, so thankful their girls are friends with my girls. I have been friends with some of these girls since middle school!

Have you been to a Favorite Things Party before? If so what did you bring?
I love hearing what everyone's favorite things are...they are all so unique!

  2. I love a favorite things party! My MOPs group does it this way too. My girlfriends and I do a 40$ limit and you make a gift bag of your favorite things from that year, then we draw names and whoever's name you draw is who's bag you get. I love it because you see everyone's favorite products and usually end up buying stuff you see in other bags :)
