10 on 10 :: October 2014

10 pictures on the 10th day of the month!
{Document a snapshot of your life & find beauty among the ordinary things in your day!} ten on ten button
Six years ago on October 10, 2008, I participated with 10 on 10 for the very first time.
It was super small & only a handful of people even knew about it.
My blog was only 2 months old and I thought it was such a fun idea to document my day every hour for 10 hours. My little Claire Bear was only 1 month old.
Since that very first time I did 10 on 10, I was hooked.
For the past SIX years, every month, I have documented the 10th day of the month.
I haven't missed a month yet!!!
I have been a couple days late posting my 10 on 10 (like this month) but I have still documented the 10th of each month. Sometimes life just gets busy & I don't have time to post on the actual 10th :)

Here is what our 10th looked like for October 2014.
I came downstairs to grab my camera & saw Kate pouring cereal for herself, Claire & Kevin.
She has such a servants heart.
Packing up lunches. I don't send my girls with PB&J (too many nut allergies at their school) so I usually send them with a half bagel & cream cheese, some fruit, an applesauce squeezer and a snack. Today's snack was Pretzel thins. I am always curious what people send for their kids lunches, I always run out of ideas!
Then, I was off to school. Here is what my desk looks like each morning. Laptop, school planner, Erin Condren life planner, pile of papers to grade, and my breakfast...a Luna Bar.
I didn't take any more pics at school because I was too busy teaching & holding a review session. After school, I picked up Claire from Kindergarten and then we went to pick up Luke at my moms.
My mom watches my sisters kids on Fridays also, so Claire wanted to stay & play with my niece Olivia for a few minutes. Olivia looks SO much like Kate did as a baby. It's crazy! Isn't she a cutie?
Luke, Claire & I headed to Target before Kate was out of school. We needed to get some shoes for her Halloween costume.
I also got a glitter pumpkin...it looks so good on our new mantle!
Then it was time for my afternoon pick me up...Iced Coffee (since it is still in the 90's!!!!!!) and a Chocolate Pumpkin brownie!!! So good. I need to blog the recipe!
I had to drop off Claire at her friend Tatum's birthday party. Fun fact....when I first did 10 on 10 6 years ago on October 10, 2008, the first photo on that post {HERE} was a text message from my friend letting me know her daughter Tatum was born. And, here we are 6 years later at her 6th birthday party. Love it!
Luke wouldn't leave the party until I let him go down the blow up slide a few times...he was obsessed!

Usually Friday night is Pizza Night, but not this Friday night. It was my neighbor Steph's birthday, so 5 of us on our court went out to dinner for a girls night!
 Love my neighbors!!!

We had a fun night out...here is our cheers...my drink is a lemon drop, of course! :)
It was a super busy, but super fun 10th of October!

This has been such a fun project to be a part of for the past 6 years.
It is fun to see how our family has grown over the past 6 years via 10 on 10.
Thank you Rebekah for creating such a fun project!
I look forward to the 10th every month!

  2. How fun is it that it's come full circle back to Tatum's 6th birthday?! That's really cool! And listen, when it comes to lunches for school, my kiddos love the same things every day. I'm going to try the bagel and cream cheese though! Looked delish!

  3. Six years is a long time--you are so committed! I have only participated for about a year and a half, and missed one month at that. Your chocolate pumpkin brownie looks delicious, so I do hope you share the recipe!

  4. Hi Mel, I love reading your 10 on 10 posts with your beautiful skilful photography and sweet commentary! Kate is a girl after my own heart -- love her name ;) and I love how you've previously expressed your love for children's different characters, similarities and differences.
Good job on the well balanced school lunches, just to share my experiences, as a young kid I when through a Pita Pocket phase with a variety of fillings (cream cheese, chedder cheese and lettuce, tuna, egg, ham, turkey ham) and sometimes took a thermos with pasta. Now turkey & cream cheese pinwheel wraps are a hit with my friend's 4 year old. And I heard Sunflower nut butter is a tasty subsistute for PB. Oh and Olivia's a cutie!
