Stranded {Christmas Movies}

 What 3 Christmas movies would you bring?

  I LOVE Christmas movies!

I have SO many Hallmark Christmas movies on my DVR & love watching other Christmas movies as well. Since I can only bring 3 Christmas movies with me, here are the ones I chose....these are ones that we watch Every.Single.December without fail. We own them all (I linked to the DVD's to them...they are all around $6 and you can get them with free shipping!)

{ONE}

Home Alone & Home Alone 2

I LOVE both of these. They are a Christmas staple. I watch them EVERY SINGLE December.

I know this is 2 movies, but I am only counting it as one :)

We showed our kids Home Alone & Home Alone 2 for the first time a few days ago. All 3 kids LOVED them and thought they were so funny.
 

{TWO}

Elf....Such a great movie. We haven't showed this to our kids yet, but Kevin and I watch it every year.

 

 I think our girls could watch it this year...maybe next year. Love this movie....so funny!

{THREE}

 Chevy Chase's Christmas Vacation

This is my all time favorite Christmas movie. It never gets old. I laugh every time.

It doesn't feel like Christmas time until I have watched Christmas Vacation. 

Our kid have definitely not watched this movie yet....not for a few more years.

So, there you have it.... My top 3 movies that I would bring if I were stranded.

Disclaimer....I would only watch these movies from the day after Thanksgiving until Christmas day because I have a no Christmas until after Thanksgiving rule ;)

Stranded {Outerwear Edition}

Today's topic is:
 What 3 outerwear items would you bring?

 After last night's election results, I am assuming half our country wants to move to Canada, so for this Stranded, I am going to assume you need winter wear for Canada rather than items for a tropical island :)

{ONE}
I would bring are my UGGS. 
I LOVE MY UGGS!
I have 4 pair :)

Kevin got me these ones almost 10 years ago when I was pregnant with Kate:

 I wear them all the time during winter.

Then a few years ago, I got these {HERE}:

 And, I also got these {HERE}

I really like these ones {HERE} because they can be tall or short.

Aren't they cute? I like the gray and the black.

I need an UGG intervention. Ha!

 I have gotten 4 pairs in the last 10 years, but they are just so cozy & don't wear out....even after 10 years....plus did you know you can get Ugg replacement insoles?

I figure that Uggs will be perfect for nighttime when your feet need a break from the sand. Plus, when you walk around on the sand in your Uggs, your Uggs won't get sand in them because they are taller boots. And, of course you can spray THIS water & stain protectant on your Uggs so that if they get water on them, they will be protected! 
 
 I LOVE this stuff!

{TWO}
I love vests. They are the perfect layering piece.
I have had THIS vest for several years (I have it in black, but it comes in several colors.

I love black outerwear because it goes with everything!

What I love about this vest is that you can have the fur on the hood or you can unzip the fur out of the hood, so it's like 2 looks in one.

Ever since I lived in Colorado for college, I have become a fan of North Face.
They have the best jackets. I have several North Face jackets/vests and I love them.

I got one like THIS several years ago & love that it is light weight, but keeps you warm. I use it here in the Bay Area & also when we go to Tahoe (comes in tons of colors)

I also have a longer one like THIS one (comes in several colors, I have black)


If you want a thinner, longer one....THIS is a new style that just came out (also comes in several colors)

So, there you have it....3 of my essential outwear items if you were stranded somewhere in the winter....or if you are moving to Canada.

What 3 types of Halloween candy would you bring?

This was pretty easy for me to chose my 3 favorite Halloween candies.

3 immediately came to mind when choosing my favorites....these 3 are the ones I steal from my children after they have gone Trick or Treating :)

These are also the 3 candies that I buy to pass out to my Trick or Treaters.

{ONE}

This is my ALL time favorite Halloween candy....these are the first things I steal from my children :)

Here are some of my favorite recipes that I use Reese's Peanut Butter Cups for:

As you can tell...I love Reeses Peanut Butter Cups!

I also have a recipe for No Bake Chocolate Peanut Bars....otherwise known as copy cat Reeses Peanut Butter Cups (but in bar form) 

 Peanut Butter & Chocolate is one of the best combinations ever!

{TWO}

 My mom always bought these when we were kids to pass out to trick or treaters.

The only time I eat snickers is around Halloween.

If I do buy Snickers at times other than Halloween, it's to make some of these treats:

Chocolate Chip Snickers Cookies

{THREE}
The 3rd type of Halloween candy that I buy (or would want to have on a deserted island) would be Skittles.

I am known for stealing my kids Skittles also :)

The funny part is that 2 of my 3 Halloween candy choices are chocolate, but throughout the rest of the year, I actually prefer sugary candy over chocolate.
My overall 3 favorite candy choices are:
Hot Tamales
Sour Patch Kids
Good & Plenty

But those 3 candies aren't what I think of when I think of Halloween candy.
Probably because I eat them year round ;)

What 3 movies would you bring?

Well, let me just say I love that I can watch movies on this deserted island :)

This was hard for me to decide.....there are so many movies I love!

I knew I wanted movies that I LOVE and that I can watch over and over and over again without getting sick of them.

I knew that I would want to watch movies that are comedies, because if I am stranded on an island I want to be laugh and not watch something dramatic or emotional.

You've Got Mail

 I LOVE THIS MOVIE!!!!
This is probably one of my most favorite movies EVER.
Yes, I know it is cheesy, but I love it.
I have seen probably over 100 times.
I never get sick of watching it.


{TWO}
Office Space

If you have ever worked in an office, you need to see this movie!
It is one of the first movies Kevin and I watched when we were dating.
He even bought me the VHS tape of it ;)
This movie is a classic.


{THREE}
My Best Friends Wedding

Another movie I have probably seen over 100 times.
I think my college roommate and I watched this at least once a week our freshman year of college.
Julia Roberts is one of my all time favorite actresses.


Honorable Mention:
Mrs. Doubtfire has a soft spot in my heart...another movie I just love.
I am bias because they filmed part of this movie in my town and after filming one night we got to meet Sally Field, Robin Williams & Pierce Brosnon.

It was such a great night & makes watching that movie even more special.

Side Note...I didn't list any Christmas movies as movies I would bring because I have a FIRM rule about Christmas movies....I can only watch them the day after Thanksgiving up until Christmas Day. 
Yes, I am one of those people ;) But, if I happened to be stranded during that time period, I would for sure want to bring  Christmas Vacation or Home Alone. 2 of my favorite Christmas movies :)

What 3 Footwear items would you bring if you were STRANDED on a deserted island?

 This was pretty easy for me to decide....I love SHOES. Love them.
It's embarrassing how many pairs of shoes I own, but if I were Stranded on an Island, I know just the 3 pair I would bring.

{ONE}
Flip flops!

THESE are my favorite flip flops because they are so comfortable & they last for YEARS and YEARS!

 

This is my 2nd pair of Rainbow Flip Flops. I love the braided strap detail.

If you aren't a fan of the braided strap, these one's just have a plain strap. This style was 1st pair I had....they lasted me 4 or 5 years!

 They also have Men's with thicker straps. Kevin has THESE ones:

My running shoes, of course :)
THESE are the running shoes I have:

I have run over 250 miles on this pair of shoes, so after another 100 miles, I will need to get a new pair of shoes. I got fitted for this shoe in the Spring, so now I know what fits my running style.
The new colors of this shoe just came out, so I am deciding between THIS color:

A year ago, I wouldn't have brought my running shoes, but last summer got back into running  after a 10 year hiatus (read about it HERE) and now my running shoes are part of my life...even on vacation, so I would for sure have them if I was Stranded.  We were in Tahoe last week on vacation & I went running 5 out of the 6 days we were there!
If I had my running shoes, I could go on long runs along the island to pass time :)

 So, there you have it....the 3 pairs of shoes I would want to have with me if I was Stranded!


The shoes I picked for that are different than my 3 go-to/everyday pair of shoes, so I thought I would share those also. I LOVE talking about shoes :)

Since school is stating next week, my go-to shoes & favorite pair of shoes are hands down THESE flats:

THESE are the most comfortable flats I have EVER worn. 

I got them almost 2 years ago for Back to School. They feel like I am wearing slippers.

They also come in Nude:

I have the black pair, but I also have this cognac color only available HERE:


They are so worth the money, especially if you have a gift card to put toward them.
I got the tan pair a year after the black pair because I loved them so much.
 I am on my feet a ton during the school year & these flats are worn 4 times a week during the Fall and Spring.  When I am doing a lot of training & running, these flats make my feet feel like they are in heaven. LOVE them!

{TWO}

I am OBSESSED with these booties!
 They come in 2 colors....Mushroom:

 I have them in both colors :)
The heel isn't too tall, which is perfect for tall girls like me.
And, they are waterproof. They are SO comfortable! 
I teach in them & my feet don't hurt.

 {THREE}

These are my go-to boots for Fall & Winter

I wear them 3-4 times a week during the Fall/Winter.

They go with everything and they hold up! 

I have had mine for 2 years & they are in great shape!
