If you are lucky enough to live where there is a Trader Joe's near by, you have probably fallen in love with it. We have been lucky enough to have a Trader Joe's in our town for over 20 years, so my love for Trader Joe's started when I was in high school. Our Trader Joe's is close to where I went to high school & we had an open campus, so I would often grab one of their salads during lunch.
Since becoming a mom, my love of Trader Joe's has increased times 1000.
I thought I would share some of my favorite Trader Joe's items, things that are staples in our house & that you will pretty much always find in our fridge, freezer & pantry.
The first thing I love about Trader Joe's is all the flowers they have in front.
These make great hostess/teacher gifts if you need something in a pinch.
Let's not forget about the fresh bouquets they have, always great prices.
I love their Sunflowers during the Summer.
Trader Joe's has THE BEST TULIPS EVER.
Once late April/early May hits, their Peonies arrive. They are incredible.
As much as I love their Tulips & Peonies, their Daffodils are not good. I have gotten them a couple times and they never opened up. Boo! I stick to Safeway's daffodils!
Every Spring when we plant our garden, I grab a basil plant from Trader Joe's to plant in my garden.
Let's go "shopping", shall we?
VEGETABLES/SALADS:
This Mirepoix is one of my VERY favorite items because it's pre chopped celery, onions & carrots.
It is PERFECT to use for Grammy's Split Pea Soup, Chicken Noodle Soup & Chicken Pot Pie.
I also love these petite colorful carrots!
If you love beets, you will love their steamed & peeled beets.
They recently got Golden Beets in stock, so I have been buying those also to add to my beet salad to make it more colorful :)
Their riced broccoli and riced cauliflower are perfect to use instead of rice.
I love their bagged Brocolli because you can just pop it in your microwave to steam it & it's a great side.
I love that they have pre-cut Butternut Squash. Once I discovered this, I started using it for my Sweet Potato & Black Bean Chili.
You can also just roast the pre cut butternut squash for a side dish. I do this a lot in the Fall & add in cauliflower or Brussels sprouts drizzled in olive oil.
Speaking of Brussels Sprouts, I always buy this bag....so cheap!
They also have shaved brussels sprouts which are great to add to salads:
Speaking of Salads.....
This salad is my go-to during
Spring/Summer. We have it a few times a week during these months &
it pairs perfectly with BBQ chicken, chicken kabobs or Steak.
I love their organic brocolli slaw...again...so cheap! We use this for Pulled Pork Sandwiches or Fish Tacos!
I also love their Power to the Greens Salad mix. I add it to smoothies & I also add it to their pre-packaged salads to make them go further.
These are my 2 favorite pre-packaged salads:
The BBQ chicken salad one is also very good.
FRUIT:
To be honest, I don't really buy my fruit from Trader Joe's.
I have found that the quality isn't as good. Most of the fruit from Trader Joe's is from Mexico or South America. The fruit I can get here at our grocery stores or farmers market is all local to here in the Bay Area so it's MUCH fresher.
But, there is one fruit I buy here....Organic Sliced Apples.
Yes, I am that lazy that I buy pre-sliced apples :)
Plus, my kids sometimes don't eat a whole apples, so it's easier for them to just grab some slices from the bag.
CHEESE:
Whenever we have our Bachelor viewing parties or I need to make a cheese plate, I get my cheese from Trader Joe's.
Here are some of my favorites....
White Stilton with Apricots...AMAZING.
Their Triple Cream Brie is the best Brie ever! So creamy!
I also loved their herb Goat Cheese. Delicious.
I love their Fresh Mozzarella Cheese log because it's pre sliced!
This is my go-to in the summer when I make Caprese Salad or Margarita Pizza.
This cheese sampler is perfect for when you want a little afternoon snack of cheese & crackers. It's already pre-sliced!
Their freshly shaved Parm, Romano & Asaigo Cheese is such a good price and I buy this container all the time (we eat a lot of Italian Food)
DIPS:
Who doesn't love a good dip? ;)
Their fresh Brushetta is one of my favorites because you can use it in so many ways.
I have put it on toasted bread for traditional bruschetta. In the summer, I make angel hair pasta & dump in this container along with Parmesan & fresh cherry tomoatoes from my garden. It's a light & refreshing Summer dinner. I like it served cold rather than hot. Also tastes good with shredded chicken.
Another favorite is to pour some Brushetta on plain goat cheese & serve with crackers. Delicious!
I could eat an entire container of their Reduced Guilt Guacamole. SO good!
I also love this dip...perfect with carrots or Pita Chips!
I found out this week that my VERY favorite Trader Joe's Dip has been discontinued.
I LOVE this dip. I would buy it every week in the summer and would have it as a dip for Sweet Potato Fries or I would use it as a spread/sauce for turkey burgers/chicken sandwiches.
I couldn't find it at my store, so the checker told me to go to Traderjoes.com and send an email :(
I even wrote an email to Trader Joe's asking about it.
I really hope they bring it back. If not, I need to figure out how to make it.
Summer meals won't be the same without this dip :)
YOGURT:
This is my favorite yogurt...Greek Nonfat Vanilla Bean!
I eat it with fresh berries & granola mixed in.
My kids love these yogurts:
It's the only yogurt they will eat!
BEVERAGES:
This is a new item....SO good with tequila to make a fun drink for Cinco de Mayo.
I also love their Spicy Chai.
Trader Joe's also has a great wine section with really good prices!
CRACKERS:
These are the 4 types of crackers I always have on hand to serve when we have friends over. They go perfectly with the cheeses I mentioned earlier.
Pita Bites:
Savory Thins:
Raisin Rosemary Crisps:
Ak-Mak...so good with Brie!
FROZEN FOODS:
I always keep one of these in my freezer....great appetizer.
These are also good to have on hand:
I usually get my bags of Frozen Chicken Breasts or Chicken Breast Tenderloins at Trader Joe's because they have the best prices around.
I use at least 1 bag a week, tons of my Instant Pot Recipes use Frozen Chicken Breasts/Tenderloins
I also like to have a package of their Frozen Orange Chicken and BBQ Teriyaki Chicken in my freezer. Each of these are a good, quick meal on busy nights when you don't feel like cooking ;)
I also like to have a package of their Frozen Orange Chicken and BBQ Teriyaki Chicken in my freezer. Each of these are a good, quick meal on busy nights when you don't feel like cooking ;)
Both of these are great served over Rice or Cauliflower Rice and Broccoli as your veggie.
I LOVE these frozen rice packets. Each box has 3 rice pouches & you heat them up in the microwave for 3 minutes and BOOM! Perfect rice. I always buy the Brown Rice, but it also comes in Jasmine Rice and they also have Quinoa.
We love their Sweet Potato fries, I stock up on these during the summer.
Their Roasted Potatoes make great breakfast potatoes. Yum!
I also love their frozen mashed potatoes. They are frozen in chunks, so you can heat up whatever serving size you need. Once I do that, I will add some cream cheese/sour cream and even chives or bacon to give them more pizzazz.
Sometimes I even sneak in some of the frozen cauliflower to get some veggies in there. These are right next to the frozen potatoes & they are frozen cubes of cauliflower so you can use as many as you need.
My family never notices when I sneak in the cauliflower ;)
They have a great selection of frozen fruits that are perfect for smoothies or pies, but my favorite is the Pineapple tidbits.
I add them to smoothies (like THIS one) & also when we make homemade pizza/calzones (we love Hawaiian Pizza)
SNACKS:
Luke is obsessed with these bars. Strawberry is his favorite, followed closely by blueberry.
These Pretzel sticks are delicious.
Love their peanut butter filled pretzels.
Their Caramel Cheddar Popcorn mix is amazing. One of my friends got me hooked on this when she brought it to our Bachelor night one Monday. It's so good!
Kate LOVES trail mix. They sell it by the bag, but I love the individual snack bags. Her 2 favorite kinds are Rainbow's End and Tempting Trail Mix:

I love these cashews:
These almonds are AMAZING.
Cheddar Puffs, Backed Cheese Crunchies & Veggie Sticks are staples in our house.
I love this granola to put on yogurt. (It's gluten free if you care about that kind of thing)
TREATS:
Cowboy Bark.....ADDICTING.
Sea Salt Butterscotch Caramels....DIVINE.
Dark Chocolate Pretzel Slims....DELICIOUS.
These Ice Cream Cookie Sandwiches are really good!
MISCELLANEOUS:
Everything But the Bagel Topping:
Perfect on Avocado Toast, Eggs or a Plain Bagel/Plain Cream Cheese & this sprinkled on top.
Trader Joes' has the best selection of Turkey for turkey sandwiches & the best prices!
Their Cinnamon Rolls are the best...way better than Pillsbury brand.
I love this peanut butter (my kids don't!) I dip sliced apples in it.
This Thai Yellow Curry sauce is delicious (if you like Curry!) I use this curry sauce when I make my Slow Cooker Chicken Chick Pea Curry.
This Thai Yellow Curry sauce is delicious (if you like Curry!) I use this curry sauce when I make my Slow Cooker Chicken Chick Pea Curry.
I made up another recipe using this sauce that I need to blog soon. It's made in the Instant Pot (of course!)
I love this soup, perfect for my lunch during the week:
I add these croutons on top of the soup. SO good!
These croutons are also good in Caesar Salad.
You won't find canned veggies/canned beans for a better price....so cheap!
Same with their diced tomatoes & pasta sauces. Great prices.
I LOVE their Coconut Body Butter. It smells like Hawaii :)
It is really moisturizing when you have dry skin in the winter or summer.
Did you know that Trader Joes has an AMAZING assortment of greeting cards? There are so many cute ones and get this....only $.99!!!!!!!!

Love Trader Joe’s and can’t wait to try some of your suggestions. Thanks for the giveaway.
ReplyDeleteLove your recommendations for Trader Joe's, many of which I have not tried. We usually go there once a week and it consistently saves me money. We love the small containers of cinnamon applesauce, bananas, frozen hash browns, eggs, Parmesan Romano cheese, fig cereal bars, reduced guilt wheat crisps (like wheat thins), Jo Jo's cookies, slivered almonds, vegetable frozen fried rice, premium extra virgin olive oil, frozen reduced guilt Mac and cheese, Milton's healthy whole grain bread, organic tri color bell peppers, salted caramel hot chocolate, Kerrygold butter (the best), lite shredded 3 cheese blend, lite Mexican blend cheese, lite Havarti cheese slices, maple syrup, and salsa verde.
ReplyDeleteThe granola.
ReplyDeleteI love their graham crackers!
ReplyDeleteI thought of a few more items I regularly buy at Trader Joe's. They include Champs Elysees bagged salad, organic corn chip dippers (better than Fritos), frozen battered halibut, Kerrygold Dublinger cheese, wheat sourdough bread, whole wheat British muffins, and frozen vanilla or chocolate Hold the Cone ice cream cones. Thank you for your generous giveaway💗
ReplyDeleteI'm a Trader Joe's newbie. Thanks for the fav's list!
ReplyDeleteI'm cracking up because I have almost the exact same post written for later this week! I love Trader Joes. I just started going there regularly about 2-3 years ago. Now we go every week! That Orange Chicken is a family favorite around here. I love how quick and easy it is on a busy night! You showed so many things we don't have - wine, certain products, cards . . . I'm jealous! We definitely don't have as nice a flower selection either. I love their produce and have to check out some of the things you mentioned. Those beets and that guacamole are my favorites!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for doing this! There are so many hidden treasures at TJ's so I love hearing what other people love. I love getting bouquets and other seasonal items, especially for gifts like for teachers at the end of the year. They always come out so nice!
ReplyDeleteI so wish therw was a trader joe in canada. I have to cross the border to get my goodies!
ReplyDeleteI loved reading about all your Trader Joe’s favorites. As a Trader Joe lover myself it’s hard to pick one favorite because their are, OH SOOO MANY! But the one thing I do not buy anywhere else but Trader Joe’s is their popcorn kernels. For some reason, compared to others there’s just pops the fluffiest.
ReplyDeleteSo hard to choose as I love TJs! Their cheap wine? Haha. I guess their plantain chips, love those! I always have a couple of bags on hand. But I'm also there for the wine and cheese :D
ReplyDeleteEverything But the Bagel is my favorite item right now.
ReplyDeleteTrader Joe's hand cream is so good!
ReplyDeleteLove the Everything but the bagel seasoning---I put it on everything!! Close second is all the cheese, I love being able to try new kinds without a large price tag!
ReplyDeleteI'm obsessed with Trader Joe's! My favorites right now are the dried fruit (baby bananas are my #1 purchase) and green goddess salad dressing. And I love the ginger chews as a treat!
ReplyDeleteLove Trader Joe's so much -- and love hearing about things that I should be checking out.
ReplyDeleteI am going today to get the Everything but the Bagel sesame blend for my avo toast! It looks so good!!
Thanks for sharing all of these things! :)
wow, quite a post, thank you! Many of the items you listed are favorites of mine, but I will now try others thanks to you.
ReplyDeleteThe chipotle black bean dip is delicious when spread on toast before adding the mashed avocado, then putting a fried egg or egg white on top...so good. Also, I used to make a soup using their refrigerated cheese tortellini and their creamy pasta sauce (I can’t remember the exact name, but I don’t think they have that many different pasta sauces ) that was very good. I like keeping their little cubes of mashed garlic in the freezer, and some of their seasonal baked goods are irresistible to me Its a bit hard for me to think of everything I buy there so early in the morning,, a couple of others items are their less guilt macaroni and cheese (frozen), and the bags of frozen Kung Pao chicken..it’s really good, and if time permits, I’ll add additional cooked bell pepper and onion slices.
I don't have a Trader's Joes near me, but I do love their pumpkin spice pancake mix. :-)
ReplyDeleteTheir vegan soy hot dogs, frozen gyoza, almond meal, snacking cucumbers are some of the regular items I get from Trader Joes. Absolutely loved their stuff and customer service.
ReplyDeleteForgot to add that I love the samples and more often than not, I end up buying the item(s),and during the holiday season they have incredible prices on fresh wreaths and garlands! Also, I buy their olive oil, love some of their salad dressings and recently discovered their spray olive oil. The more I begin to wake up this morning, the more I think of. Like you, not a huge fan of their produce..I typically buy that at Sprouts. I live in San Diego, where we have a lot of TJ’s stores, and they are always busy!
ReplyDeleteI don't think I can pick a favorite, we have SO many! I love their turkey meatballs for a quick lunch or dinner. We love the cereal bars, their oatmeal, the cinnamon apple sticks, beer bread, candied pecans, frozen mini pancakes....SO much TJ's goodness!
ReplyDeleteI must say that my husband and I probably go to Trader Joe's at least twice or more a week. Right now we love their frozen lasagna and we also like their Canadian Bacon. MY husband loves their brownie coffee ice cream sandwiches. I love the pomegranate seeds and the blueberries and hummus.
ReplyDeleteYES on TJ's flowers- the best around- cannot wait for the peonies- one of my favorites products of theirs is the cilantro lime salad dressing-incredible!
ReplyDeleteLove it Mel! I've got a TJ's post cued up for pretty soon myself. I just love reading what others love to find there. If you are a Gorgonzola girl, they have the best! We recently bought the Rosemary and Raisin crackers and my husband is totally in love. TJ's is such a fun little store!!!!
ReplyDeleteI love all the items you shared as well! I buy the olive oil and coconut cooking spray in bulk because it's so cheap. We love the dark choc peanut butter cups (well pretty much any of the chocolate) and the peanut butter filled pretzels. I enjoy looking at all the pretty flowers when I get there too!
ReplyDelete-Sarah G
We just got a TJ's in the last year, and I LOVE IT!!
ReplyDeleteI love TJ's! My favorite items are their Roasted Tomatillo and Yellow Chile Salsa and their plantain chips!
ReplyDeleteI love TJ's! And being an SRV grad, I totally remember open lunches and walking to Trader Joe's to buy little health bars at lunch. Although at that time, TJ's was much smaller and House of Bread was next door and I loved HOB's cheddar twists, so they usually got my lunch money. :) One of my go-to things at TJ's is the alkaline water bottles. If we are going on a road trip, or even a day trip, I will stock up on those so we all stay hydrated. I also love their cheese selection- so many great cheeses! And the won ton soup in the freezer section is really good, too! :)
ReplyDeletelove trader joes! their Mediterranean hummus is addicting.
ReplyDeleteI love Trader Joe's...thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI like the Trader Joe's vegan cream cheese!
ReplyDeleteLove their inexpensive red wines and ethnic frozen food items!!
ReplyDeleteWe buy a lot of the same veggies at Trader Joe's! My favorites are the bagged butternut squash and broccoli, makes dinner time that much easier!
ReplyDeleteI think you’ve covered the whole store! So many great finds. Live all things TJ’s. I will buy their bananas but steer clear if most fresh fruit too.
ReplyDeleteGreat post! Your Trader Joes must be a lot larger than ours. I saw a lot of things that mine3 doesn't have - boo! Going to try looking closer next time!
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.

ReplyDeleteMy favorite was the half popped popcorn, but they discontinued it. Now my favorite is their cheddar and caramel popcorn mix. Yum!
ReplyDeleteLove those white cheddar puffs in the snack aisle. I like buying nuts there for baking. Also hit up the dried fruit - seems like the best price around on a lot of that stuff. I'm a total sucker for all their seasonal goodies - the pumpkin Joe Joe cookies were SO good. LOVE Trader Joes! I also love their salad that has cous cous and chicken on it.
ReplyDeleteSumatra Coffee Brownies!!

I love picking up fresh basil for our kitchen window & you can always find a couple bags of the cranberry maple granola in my cart as well.
ReplyDeleteI’ve lived within 20 minutes of Trader Joe’s my entire adult life, and I’ve been there less than a handful of times. Whenever anyone blogs about Trader Joe’s they always seem to highlight frozen dinners or processed snacks, neither of which my family eats much of. I love that you highlighted all of the fresh veggies available! I may have to make a trip to check it out!
ReplyDeleteI love quite a few things you listed. I also love the pink Himalayan sea salt, their frozen riced cauliflower with stir fry veggie mixed in, their tortilla chips are the best, and we also loved their dried fruit!

ReplyDeleteWe don’t have trader joes in Canada...our closest comparison is farm boy which doesn’t come close to the variety. If we did have a TJ’s I would be loving all the convenient products like frozen riced cauliflower and the deli counter!
ReplyDeleteWe do not have a Trader Joes close by - I really wish we did - because all the items look awesome.

ReplyDeleteJust to share the love...Trader's donated chocolate bars and lip balm to me 3 years in a row which I used to make Mother's Day gift bags for the moms that have sick children at Children's Hospital LA and Orange County (where our son was). It was so generous and so appreciated

ReplyDeleteI love Trader Joe's! We don't have one near us, but it's not THAT far to Atlanta, so occasionally we make the trip. I love so many things there, but Cookie Butter is near the top of the list. And also the small round chocolate chip cookies that come in a tub; my kids LOVE those!
ReplyDeleteCurrently, I love the prepped veggies and the couscous salad.
ReplyDeleteBut my ALL TIME favorite (this is going back more than 20 years...) was a frozen Shrimp and Crab Ravioli with Roasted Garlic Cream Sauce. SO GOOD! The sauce was in a packet you could just drop in the water while it was heating up to boil the ravioli. I still dream about it.
Yum! I love Trader Joe’s little chocolate chip cookies!
