Growing up, I was blessed to have two sisters who were more than sisters; they were (and still are) my best friends. Sure, we occasionally fought about taking each other's clothes and other petty things, but overall, we got along amazingly.
We all cared about each other & wanted the best for each other (and we still do!)
When I got married 10 years ago, I knew exactly who would be my Maid of Honor.
I wouldn't have just one, I knew I would have two Maids of Honor, both my sisters.
When my sister Rebecca got married, I was the Matron of Honor & Elyse was the Maid of Honor.
There is no one else who could fulfill those roles for us, except one another.
When BlogHer asked if I would participate in Reel Sisterhood, I jumped at the opportunity because there is nothing in the world like a sister.
The Disney movie, "Secret of the Wings" is a cute movie that we watched as a family. My girls loved it because it was about Tinker Bell and because we found out Tinker Bell has a sister, Periwinkle.
Tinker Bell and Periwinkle had an immediate bond when they first discovered they were sisters. They wanted to be with each other and even risked their lives, the life of the forest and the lives of the other fairies in order to spend time together. That is how strong their bond was.
Not only am I blessed to have sisters, I have two little girls who have each other as sisters.
I remember when I was pregnant with Claire, I was truly hoping she was a girl so Kate would have a sister.
They are only 19 months apart, so Kate was basically a baby when Claire was born.
The bond they had was immediate. They don't know life without each other.
When Kate was starting Kindergarten last month, she told me that she wished she & Claire were twins so that Claire could go to Kindergarten with her. It makes me so happy she loves her sister so much & wanted her sister to go to school with her.
I love seeing the bond & friendship my girls have.
They are best friends and my hope is that they will continue to love each other & be each other's best friend for the rest of their lives. I know I have gotten to experience that with my sisters and I hope the same rings true for my girls.
I am also blessed to have friends who are like sisters to me and I am so thankful for them!

I don't have a sister - but I have plenty of friends that I would consider sisters. They are there for you at 3am for a phone call or will drive across the state to see your newborn!
ReplyDeleteI grew up with four sisters and it is wonderful and annoying at the same time, but in general I love it!

My sister is the best! I am also blessed to have a best friend I call "sister".
ReplyDeleteI love this post :) I have two younger sisters...way younger -- they are 12 & 10. My experience with being a big sister is a lot different than most. And now as a wife, I have two big sisters which is something all new and extremely fun in a different way. I love all 4 of my sisters! :) And my husband and I want this movie (we met working at Disney World) so I'm so excited about this giveaway :)
ReplyDeleteI also wrote a sister blog and put a link to your giveaway :)

I have two sisters - one is seven years older and one is four years younger. Both were in our wedding party, although my little sis (Rachel) was my maid of honor. I am especially close with Rach and other than my hubby, Ryan, she is my very best friend. I love having her in my life to share stories, ask advice, and just generally be around. I especially can't wait to see how our relationship changes once I become a Mom and she is an aunt to our baby boy. I'll stop now before I get weepy. Sisters are the best.
ReplyDeleteI would love to win this for so many reasons! First, I have four girls and we are all about sisterhood in our house! Second, all my girls are big Tinkerbell fans!
ReplyDeleteA sister is someone you can share anything with, argue and debate and still meet up later for dinner and a movie. Someone who will be there whenever you need them and is a second mom to your kids.
ReplyDeleteMy sister and I are 8 years apart...while growing up we didn't have much in common. Now, we are older and she amenity have grown more and kore close. She was my maid of honor in my wedding last month and I am so glad she was by my side.

I've got 3 sisters, 3 daughters and 6 friends that I am close enough to be sisters with. It's the best. Thanks for the opportunity.
ReplyDeleteMy sister is my best friend! I remember the day finding out my second baby was a girl too and being so thankful she would be a sister to my first and have a best friend for life! Sisterhood=best friend Thanks for hosting the giveaway. My girls have watched the trailer for the Secret of the Wings a MILLION times!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet post. I have one sister and I love that even though we live in different states we will drop everything and come running. We always have each others backs. I hope my girls develop that same love for each other.
ReplyDeleteAwe! I love this post. And reading about how close you are with your two sisters makes me even more excited for baby girl number three to arrive! I have a little sister- we are 17months apart- and I just adore her to pieces! I know that she will always be there no matter what!!
ReplyDeleteI don't have a sister close in age bit I do have 2 girls 21 months apart &I pray they have this awesome bond you talk about!
ReplyDeleteThe movie looks adorable! Anna and Tatum (even) will love it! My sister and I have basically done everything together, we even got to share a year of college together. I wish we lived closer since she's my very best friend, but no matter the miles we're always close at heart. My wish is the same for Anna and Tatum!
ReplyDeleteMy sister is my best friend...through all our turbulent childhood (I have scars to prove it:), she is my rock and barometer! I have two daughters who have had an amazing sisterly bond...but we are now heading into the teenage years and are hitting their turbulent time. I know that they will come out stronger on the other side and hopefully without any scars!
ReplyDeleteSister hood to me is: calling my sisters about big things, little things, past memories, future ideas, questions about our kids, and more. Calling them anytime just to say "I love you and miss you" Awe... makes me miss my sisters.
ReplyDeleteSisterhood means so much to me. I have 3 girls. An 8 year old and 2 year old twins. The bond I see between the twins is amazing and I can't wait to watch them grow up together as best friends. The bond that i see forming b/w their older sister and them is also awesome to watch. They admire her b/c she takes time out of everyday to play with them, hang out and just be an awesome big sister. I am so proud to be these 3 girls mom and can't wait to watch their sisterhood continue to expand!
ReplyDeleteGrowing up I was an only child. I have a step sister now though. :-) my girls are only 11.5 months apart. I hope and pray they grow up to be close. I don't really know how to define sisterhood since most of my life I didn't have one. I dream of my girls sharing secrets and going to each other for everything they need comfort on.
ReplyDeleteI dont have sisters by birth...but I have some awesome sisters by love! Hehe! I love the friends that you can share anything with...you can tease...share clothes...laugh...be honest with..all the things I imagine real sisters do!
ReplyDeleteI have 2 older sisters and there has been good times and bad, but a lifetime of memories. I have 2 young daughters that love each other and love Tinkerbell. :)
ReplyDeleteI have 2 older sisters and there has been good times and bad, but a lifetime of memories. I have 2 young daughters that love each other and love Tinkerbell. :)
ReplyDeleteTo me, sisterhood means forever friend(s). I have two sisters and I thank God for them daily. We share such a special bond.I love having two best friends that I can always count on. :)
ReplyDeleteYour sisters and your girls are gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI was born 2 days before my sister's first birthday and we would always pretend to be twins, even though we looked like opposites physically. Fun sister times!
Sisterhood means being there for your sister always, no exceptions. It means being a sound board or a shoulder to cry on, and celebrating with her through the wonderful things as well!

Sisterhoood is always being there no matter what, always supporting, loving and caring for one another and of course always getting past arguments. My sister and I were very close while growing up and even though we've grown apart and live quite a ways from one another we always have one another's back and we are each other's keepers.

I don’t have sisters of my own, but I do have twin daughters and I have seen unconditional love in them! That is what sisterhood means to me.
