This week I realized...

...she's not a baby anymore.
She's a toddler. A little girl. This makes me want to cry.
Here are some things Claire has done in the past week or so:

- climbed in AND out of her crib
- walked up to me, took off her clothes & said pee-pee. So, i put her on the toilet! why not? While on the potty she went pee and poo! I couldn't believe it! I know this was a fluke, but it was still crazy! I wasn't planning on potty training her for another 6 months!
- has refused to sit in her high chair, so we put it in the garage. She now sits on the chairs like the rest of us.
- now wants cereal & milk in a bowl and eats it with a spoon.
- demands to ride Kate's big girl bike
- is picking up new words everyday and Claire can take off her clothes & shoes and put them back on by herself.
-she can tell me what she wants & understands when we have a conversation.

I can't believe she is turning TWO in exactly 2 months from today.
I want to freeze time. Stop growing up. Stay a baby.
But, that is not reality.
I guess it's time to start planning her birthday party, that will make me feel better about my baby growing up. But for now, I will go drown my sorrows in a Diet Coke.

if I lived a little closer, I would march my large belly to your house with a 6-pack of DC and we could sip it together.
congrats and sorry all rolled into one.

  4. I have been feeling the exact same way about my Claire! In fact, I've got a notebook upstairs with some stats and facts and memories jotted down on so that I could do a post just like this one soon. Ha, too funny. I guess our babies really do have to grow up. It makes me so sad. I just want to keep her little for a long long long time, and then let her grow up.

Enjoy your Diet Coke. I'm sipping my Diet Dr Pepper right now. It's my afternoon delight.

  6. What a beautiful girl, and such a delight to be around! I've totally been doing the same thing with Sam, watching him morph from the chubby-legged pudgie pie into a lean, mean running machine. Stop it, time!
