In high school and college I was a Diet Coke addict.
I would have at least 2 a day.
After college it tappered off to about 1 a day.
When I got pregnant with Kate 4 years, I went cold turkey. No more Diet Coke for me.

After I had Kate, my Diet Coke addiction was gone.
I just didn't have soda any more.
I would *maybe* have 1 soda a month.

But, then a few weeks ago, I bought a case of Diet Coke & it was all over.
After 4 years, I have fallen off the wagon (or have I gotten back ON the wagon?)
And, it doesn't help that my neighbor gives me fresh limes.

My favorite way to drink a Diet Coke:
- A glass of half cubed/half crushed ice
-a squirt of juice from a fresh lime
-then fill the glass with Diet Coke & garnish with fresh lime
Note: I only drink Diet Coke, no Diet Pepsi (yuck!)

NOOOOO!
ReplyDeleteI'm a huge diet coke addict too. No pepsi for me!
ReplyDeleteHave you tried the diet coke lime that is in stores now? I just bought a case last week and loved it. Surprisng, because I LOVE fountain vanilla or cherry diet coke, but not the canned versions.
I've been a follower for a while now, and I have to say, your blog is one of my very favorite!! I love the photographs, and I have two little ones of my own, so many of the stories hit home often! This post made me laugh because I was the exact same. LOVED diet coke, broke the habit with my first two pregnancies, but now I'm pregnant with my third and the craving came back. But this time I can't stand DC and I've been drinking Pepsi!!!! I never thought I'd convert, but I have. Crazy.
ReplyDeleteOn another note: I'm looking at ordering some of your invites for my son's first birthday. It's not until September, but I was wondering if you offered coordinating things, such as thank-you notes, cupcake toppers, party favor stickers, etc.??? If you get a free second, my email is amywdupree@aol.com. Thanks!!
Welcome Aboard. I'm driving the wagon. And yes, Diet Pepsi is gross. XO Love you!
ReplyDeleteHa! I am addicted to water! Coke by far out weighs Pepsi!

And remember each time you sip, you die a little bit more...
;)
I gave up Dr. Pepper 2 years ago, but just the pics of your diet coke make me want a DP so badly! Looks delicious!
ReplyDeleteI have never been a soda fan BUT I want to eat all of those limes (or make Heather bake a key lime pie out of them. Hehehe :)
ReplyDeleteI'm with heather - NOOOOO! And Brian's comment made me laugh.
ReplyDeleteI used to be addicted to Pepsi, but now I can't get enough of Coke. Cherry Coke, to be exact. It's delicious. But I've given it up for the greater good...AKA I've been offered $100 to not drink soda till Christmas. Boy do I miss it! (By the way, I'm hosting a giveaway, if you're interested. Check it out: http://talesfromatimeout.blogspot.com/2010/06/csn-giveaway.html)
ReplyDeleteRegular Coke is my addiction...and it's bad. I quit once but jumped right back on (off?) the band wagon too. It's so good ice cold, straight from the can. Oh, and never Pepsi...eeww!
ReplyDeleteI have a similar relationship with diet coke (diet pepsi - yuck!). I gave it up about 8 months ago and no longer crave it. HOWEVER. Sometimes I'll take a sip (maybe a 2 liter bottle at a party, or the hubbies cup). Then a few days I'm on it again. But it's not the same as it used to be now that I'm sufficiently addicted to iced tea! Good luck to you, my friend. :)
ReplyDeleteOh, the siren song of Diet Coke! (And Diet Coke only, not Diet Pepsi, which is NASTY.). When I was pregnant with Alexandra, I was only able to cut it down to Caffeine Free DC. A few months ago, I quit cold turkey - I only lasted 2 weeks! Here's hoping you have better luck!
ReplyDeleteI've quit the habit before and am back to drinking DC too...one a day can't be that bad! Bottoms up!
ReplyDeleteOh, I am the sole hater of Diet Coke out of everyone who commented here! Diet Coke=Yuck Diet Pepsi=LOVE! Erik just bought a case and it's making me crazy to not down a can. I had a little sip of his the other day, satisfied my pregnant craving :)
ReplyDeleteyummmmmmmmm!! i HATE diet pepsi, but pretty much can't get enough diet coke!
ReplyDeleteI broke up with Diet Pepsi. But, we are dating again. I couldn't resist his luring.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you.
ReplyDeleteI figure it's my only vice...
I'm allowed *one*, right??
And Pepsi = blech.
:)

SAME problem! worked so hard to get our whole family off of DC and it is the only thing that will settle my stomach with pregnancy #2...o well, we could be addicted to worse :)
ReplyDeletewow. we are in some good company! I gave it all up....all 5X!! But then once my body was my own, I jumped back "in".
ReplyDeleteAnd ewwwww- D Pepsi is ick.
I once got tested at beach boardwalk back in the day when they did taste tests. Yup, I knew I was right, I could pick out yucky diet pepsi anywhere, they laughed at me because I was so quick to answer but told the pepsi peeps I couldn't stand theirs!
thanks for making me thirsty ;)
darn you, that looks so delicious!!!!!!
