Even though I am a working mom with 3 young kids, I still try to look stylish, but comfortable each day.
My mornings are spent at school, teaching over 150 middle schoolers and my afternoons & evenings are spent taking care of my 3 kids. So, I wear outfits that are versatile, comfortable & can be washed up easily. Dry clean only clothes are out of the question for me.
1. They are usually more expensive & it costs money to clean them.
2. When I used to wear dry clean only clothes (pre-kids...obviously) I would always be nervous about getting them dirty. As a teacher, my clothes get a beating each day....no doubt I end up with white board marker or red pen somewhere on my clothes.
3. Since having kids, each day I end up with some form of kid "smudge" on my clothes. I can't tell you how many times a week I walk out the door unknowingly having spit-up on my shoulder. Gross.
I was thrilled when Tide sent me a package of Tide Pods to try out.
5 people in our house & all machine washable = LOTS of laundry.
I usually use liquid detergent, but loved how you just have to pop in the Tide Pods & not measure anything!
Just one removes more stains than 6 caps of the liquid bargain brand. (Based on stain removal performance of one pac of Tide Pods vs. 6 doses of the leading liquid bargain brand base variant in a standard top loading machine.)
They are the only 3-chamber unit dose on the market- a powerful 3-in-1 detergent that cleans, brightens, and fights stains.
And trust me...in this house we have a lot of stains going on.
In honor of Tide Pods 3-chamber unit in one pac, I thought I would share with you 3 outfits that I pieced together with one shirt! The versatile "chambray" shirt, which I will always call a jean shirt.
When "chambray" (jean) shirts came back in style a few months ago, I was hesitant to jump on the bandwagon because it reminded me of wearing my jean shirt in high school....15 years ago *Gulp*
But, then I saw the light & realized how cute chambray shirts are because they are SO versatile & can be worn in so many different ways!
I probably have 10 different outfits that I have created from clothes in my closet that go with my "chambray" jean shirt, but here are my 3 favorite because I feel like they really stand out!
Outfit #1
Chambray Shirt (Old Navy), black tank (Target), rose skinny jeans (Local Boutique), silver flats (Old Navy), necklace & bracelet (NY & Co)
Chambray shirt (Old Navy), white tank (Target), brown belt, Coral chevron skirt (Target) & brown boots (Target), necklace (American Eagle)
Outfit #3
Chambray Shirt (Old Navy), Cream Scarf (Gap), Black Skinnies (Target) & Brown Boots (Cathy Jean)
Three fresh Spring looks with one shirt!
{Linking up with Pleated Poppy}
And, there are so many more combos I can wear with other things in my closet!
And, there are so many more combos I can wear with other things in my closet!
What is your favorite outfit to stand out in? I know for me it's usually skinny pants/jeans and a pair of tall boots, but recently I am really loving being bold & bright with some of my clothing choices...

I love wearing a black shirt or sweater with a long purple skirt, jeans, or a short denim skirt! :-)
ReplyDeleteI love to wear bright colored skinny jeans with a more neutral tank top and cardigan. I love to make the outfit "pop" with some stand out jewelry or purse:)
ReplyDeleteI'm boring...gonna have to go with my black shirt that I can wear with anything. Jeans and add a colorful scarf for fun, skirt and long silver necklace for dressing up, or just plain with any skirt/pants. I'm SO exciting, right? I need help. Haha
ReplyDeleteI honestly have no clue what I have that I cn wear 3 ways. I better get on that!!
ReplyDeleteI have a light sweater that is a lavender with some argyle on it. It is light enough to be worn on it own with out something under it but it is perfect for a t shirt underneath and also perfect for a turtleneck underneath. I would wear the t shirt with jeans. I would wear the turtleneck with a pair of wool pants and the sweater solo with a pair of colored jeans or pants or a skirt that match.
ReplyDeleteI love my black shirt for the same reason, it goes from work to play with my dress pants that I wear to my jeans.
ReplyDeleteI bought some green pants recently and I am hoping those will be my versatile piece because they are sooo cute! And where did you get that skirt; I love it!
ReplyDeleteI have a white "chambray" shirt that I've realized is going to be my go-to item for the Spring! I can wear it with skirts, with fun pink skinnies, or once it warms up a bit I can wear it with some fun shorts!
ReplyDeleteI love the outfit with the skirt, so cute!
Plaid flannel - tied over black maxi, with black pencil skirt and heels, unbuttoned over a cute tee and white skinnies!
ReplyDeleteYou look so adorabe in all three outfits! I have a pair of skinny jeand that I can wear to walmart or dress up for Christmas...they are my favorite....Im pretty sure I wear them every day..lol
ReplyDeleteI have a black light weight sweater that I can wear with any color tank or shirt underneath with my jeans, a cute skirt (which I rarely wear even though I should), or with more dressy pants. I really need more in my closet :)
ReplyDeleteLOVE looks 2 & 3. I don't have many versatile-type pieces, mostly because we don't go anywhere fancy and my work is VERY laid back on what we wear. If I had to choose, I'd say this cute infinity scarf I have--the color/style can be worn dressed up, dressed down, and most importantly, to keep me warm!
ReplyDeleteA chambray top is absolutely the most versatile piece in my closet. I love wearing mine with pencil skirts for work and pops of color with my bright skinny jeans.
ReplyDeleteI love your look with the chevron skirt! So cute. Heather
I wear solid tee's that go with everything so all i have to change are the pants or sweater. It's pretty basic but works
ReplyDeleteI have some black leggings that are very versatile. I can wear them with sandals and a sundress for a summer look, with UGG boots and a sweater during the winter, and with sneakers when I exercise.

I have a black sweater that seems to be my go to staple I can wear it to work, dress it up with a dressy dress, or even wear it for a date night with jeans and some heels!!!
ReplyDeleteI don't have a ton of clothes that are able to be swapped around....I guess a good old black shirt would be my go to :)
ReplyDeleteI don't have a ton of clothes that are able to be swapped around....I guess a good old black shirt would be my go to :)
ReplyDeleteI'm also a teacher, so my favorite versatile piece of clothing is a solid, bright, colored t-shirt. They are easy to pair with a cardigan, a cute scarf, or simply my favorite pair of jeans.
ReplyDeleteI have a dress that I can wear with sandals in summer, with leggins and boots in winter and with jacket and high heels for a night out

I love your three looks! And I also love Tide pods :). My nude wedges are the most versatile thing in my closet. Can't live without them!
ReplyDeleteI need to get some of those red skinnies! So cute! My 3 in 1 outfit staple is my tan cardigan from Gap...can go over lots of tanks, shirts, etc. :)
ReplyDeleteI have a super cute beige cargo jacket that I got from Old Navy 3 years ago. It goes with EVERYTHING and makes me look hip and trendy...or at least as much as possible for a mother of 6.
ReplyDeleteI love wearing it with ALL my jeans, my white cotton skirt and my purple skinny jeans. And...I feel the same way about my denim jacket :) It goes with everything!
Hugs,
Trisha
ps- You are motivating me to get a Chambray shirt...I'll be on the lookout for a good sale this Spring.
I have a black dress that I've had for 3 years, it's been through both of my pregnancies with my angel babies it's great for early pregnancy.
ReplyDeleteAnyway I pair it with leggings in the spring and summer and plack pants in the fall and winter when I want to use the dress as a shirt,
Then I can also use it as a dress.
I have this blue blazer that literally goes with anything. I wear with jeans and t-shirt or slacks and and fancy shirt or just over a dress. I just love it!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE your outfit #2!! I am finally getting on the legging bandwagon {I'm always so late to the party}. And I love that I can wear them with sweaters, or under my summer dresses and skirts with boots.
ReplyDeleteI love brightly colored cardigans and use them paired with a dress, a skirt, jeans perfect 3 in 1 piece
ReplyDeleteA basic black top is my staple. I can dress it up or wear jeans. I can do silver jewelry or wear one of my really bright beaded necklaces in teal, pink etc.
ReplyDeleteThe most versatile I have is a dark blue tunic. I can wear with everyday jeans or over many colors of leggings. I can even get by with wearing as a short dress.

I'm addicted to my denim shirt, too! Leggings are my go-to at least 2-3 days a week for work, teaching first grade. I wear them with tall brown boots and my denim shirt or a big sweater. I wear them with shorter, summery dresses, too, with a denim jacket. My husband says they're my secret sweat pants that I dress up and get away with for work!!!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely my mustard ruffle scarf - it's amazing what you can pair mustard with: tan sweater, grey cardigan, navy stripped shirt, black/cream stripes...love my mustard scarf!
ReplyDeleteI have a black cardigan that I swear, I wear 2-3 times a week! It never fails to either dress up a dress or dress up jeans! LOVE Cardigans!

ReplyDeleteThanks for the contest.
