Luke's 4th birthday party was last weekend.
He has been talking about having a "diggy" party for the past few months.
(Whenever he sees a Digger or Construction machinery, he calls it a "diggy")
Here is the invite to his party:
The party was a Construction theme, but it was also a pool party (Luke loves swimming, we have a pool & he has a summer birthday, so every single one of his parties has been a pool party along with theme)
We had 30 people at the party, but it was mostly family. We invited both sides of our immediate family (we are lucky that we all live in the same town) and we invited 2 of our close family friends, 1 family who's son is one of Luke's best friends & the other family is one of our neighbors & their son and Luke are good buddies also.
Since it was a construction party, I had road signs up as people entered the party:
Bathroom sign...aka "Pit Stop"

The party was at 4pm, which meant I would be serving dinner at around 5:30, so I had a lot of appetizers out for people to snack on before dinner.
Here is the appetizer table:
I always have fun with naming the food to go with the theme.
Nuts & Bolts (Chex Mix)
Wrecking Balls (Cheese Balls)
Safety Cones (Bugles):
2x4's (Veggie Sticks)
I used some of Luke's construction toys as part of the decor.
Corn Dip is one of our favorite appetizers! Recipe {HERE}
I thought the appetizer set up turned out cute!
Close up of the Luke's banner I made:
Opposite view of the appetizer station:
"Wrecking Balls' hanging from the ceiling:
Orange, Black & Yellow isn't my favorite color combo, but it totally worked for this theme:
Cups/Straws/Napkins:
Luke's party was also a pool party, so we decorated the pool fence with caution tape & balloons:
I added a "Pool Area" sign to the pool fence:
Kids also jumped on the trampoline which I name the Kids Play Area :)
The drink station:
The dinner set up:
Broccolli Slaw:
Tortellini Pasta Salad {Recipe HERE}
Watermelon:
Close up of the Dig In sign:
Dinner was simple & I was able to prep most of it ahead of time!
Now...onto my favorite...the dessert table! :)
I was able to incorporate more of Luke's toys on this also!
Close up of Birthday sign:
Vanilla Cupcakes with fondant toppers:
The fondant toppers turned out so cute:
I got them {HERE}
Brownie bites:
YUM.
Spare Tires...aka Chocolate Donuts:
Lumber.....aka Wafer Cookies:
Pebbles....aka Reeses Pieces:
A Rock Pile....aka Milk Duds:
Boulders....aka Whoppers:
Road Rubble....mini Snickers & mini Reeses PB Cups:
The dessert table is always my favorite thing to decorate:
If you have read my blog for a while, you know my Mother in law makes the most amazing birthday cakes for our kids!
Luke wanted a big rock pile cake with his "diggys" on it:
This cake did not disappoint...it was amazing!
For the favors, I gave out cookies like I do for pretty much every party/shower I host.
