ReplyDeleteI loooooooove the fall.. Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday by far. I love everything about it. Anyways I turned 30 last summer in July and my husband and my brother and sister in law made me thanksgiving in the middle of the summer. They decorated the house with leaves and pilgrims and pumpkins... They had elf playing on the tv when I walked in along with a stack of local ads that were supposed to be my "black friday" ads. It was the best and so thoughtful! Oh and we had pumpkin and pecan pie instead of birthday cake:)

My favorite birthday gift was for my sixteenth birthday my parents rented a limo and blindfolded me so I didn't know what was going on or where we were and took me and my friends shopping at the mall. They gave each of my friends $10 and let us shop for an hour.
ReplyDeleteThe crazy part is since they blindfold I was paranoid and thought they were taking me to the mva to take my drivers license test in front of all my friends lol... I was nervous

ReplyDeleteMy favorite gift I have been given was a beautiful watch from my mom. It was a few months after my dad had passed away and while it was a very sad time, there was also sweetness in knowing that things would get better. I remember just the joy in which she gave it to me. And the favorite gift I have given is actually coming up - this weekend we are buying a new play/swing set for my almost 3 year old twins. Their heads are going to explode!
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, I follow your blog :)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite birthday gift - it wasn't an actual gift, but when I was 15 my day took the day off from work (which was a big deal because he was self-employed) to spend it with me and take me to get my learner's license. That's a birthday I'll never forget.

For their 13th birthday I had everyone who had a significant role in their lives (pastor, teacher, family, friend) write notecards with their advice for the teenager years and I made scrapbooks with photos of my girls with each person along with the notecards with their advice. They still love to look at those books!

ReplyDeleteMy favorite gift that I have given was a surprise birthday party for my husband's 30th birthday. I loved that I actually pulled it off and he was 100% surprised! We had moved away from our church friends/family, so it was a sweet time of having everyone together to celebrate my husband. It was an 80s themed party- costumes and all :)
ReplyDeleteGosh. I don't know.... I've had so many great birthdays. I think my fave was this years birthday which was last week... My husband made it possible for my grandkids and daughter to come all the way from North Carolina to celebrate with me. He couldn't have given me anything better!

hhhmmmm, i love that every year on my oldest daughter's bday i can give her stationary, pens, pencils and journals and she is ecstatic. reminds me how alike we are. happy birthday!!!
ReplyDeleteFirst Happy Birthday to you! The best gift I have ever given was what me and my sister gave together to my mom. For her 50th birthday we had a HUGE surprise dinner set up and a neutral location so she would not even know what was going on. We had all of her friends from her past show up to help us celebrate! The best part was we had been working all along behind her back with Make a Wish and we were able collectively to make my mom a Fairy Godmother, and grant a wish for a kid in our area. She was presented with a "magic" wand by a Make a Wish representative. It was by far the most amazing night watching my mom spend time with friends one of her favorite things and then being able to give back another favorite of hers!

ReplyDeleteIt might sound cheesy, but my favorite birthday gift was a party with my friends on my 20th birthday (which seems like a lifetime ago). I was so touched that they planned a fun evening with dinner out and presents back at my house. It kind of seemed like a throwback to my childhood with a big party with friends all sitting in a circle opening presents.

ReplyDeleteMy favorite birthday gift was a trip to NYC - my hubby surprised me with it for my 31st birthday... and it was just 5 months before we had twins (babes #2 and #3 in our family) - a much needed vacation before our munchkins arrived!

ReplyDeleteI actually recently gave a sweet/silly gift FROM Emeline to my dad...it was a ton of kid-like yard toys/summer stuff...and in the card I wrote a poem, "I know that this gift my seem selfish, but I promise you it's not. It's just that I really love spending time with you, a lot. I just adore making memories with you that are so fun, because you're my PopPop, my #1"-----and he cried. Over kid toys. It was so cute :)
ReplyDeleteANYWAY.

ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Mel! My favourite gift I have ever given was for my 10 year old godson for his birthday. I collected clothing from the men in his family (father, grandfathers, uncles and even his little baby boy cousin) and used them all to make him a quilt. It's his next birthday in a week and I have no idea what to follow that with!
ReplyDeleteI also follow your blog! (and have realised we (nearly) share a birthday, I'm 34 next thursday!)
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday! The best gift I was given was this past year finding out I was pregnant on my birthday. I'll love my angel baby forever and someday will be able to celebrate with him.

ReplyDeleteMy favorite birthday gift would have to be the letters my Grandpop wrote for me each year on my birthday. He wrote them in a journal that I still cherish. It has been 14 years since his death and I still think of those letters every year on my birthday.

ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday! For one of my childhood birthdays I must have been obsessed with The Little Mermaid because we have a video of me oohing and awing over every piece of clothing that you could put The Little Mermaid on including socks, shoes, underwear, shirts, etc. Each piece of clothing was "The best present ever!" or so I said!

ReplyDeleteYou always have the best giveaways!! I wouldn't say this was my favorite birthday gift, but it's a pretty neat one....... My little brother was born on my 4th birthday. How many people can say they have the same birthday as their brother but they aren't twins.

ReplyDeleteTook my hubby {then boyfriend} to NYC for his 28th b-day. The trip was a surprise, complete with amazing tickets to one of his favorite plays, a visit to Yankee stadium and several other fun surprises. The first day we were there I came down with a terrible bug and was dog sick the entire week!! I knew if we made it that week, we would make it for good - ha! We even named our little guy "Hudson" after the Hudson River, of course ;)
