Let's go fly a kite

Kevin has been talking to Kate about flying a kite all summer! It was pretty windy on Saturday, so Kevin and Kate went to the store to buy a kite. We have a wide open grassy area in our neighborhood that is just perfect for flying kites!
Here is the kite Kate picked out:
Claire enjoyed sitting in the wagon watching all the kite "action"
First, Kevin showed Kate how it was going to work.
Once he got it going, it was Kate's turn to fly the kite!

Kate had so much fun flying her kite! Then it crashed & the kite broke
(note to self, spend more than $3 on a kite next time)
R.I.P Kite.
Good thing the playground is right next to the open grass area.
Kate forgot about her broken kite when we suggested she go on the swings (her favorite!)\

  1. Fun! There was a cute "make your own fabric kite" tutorial on The Crafty Crow a week or two ago. I sent it to Heather, it looks pretty easy: http://belladia.typepad.com/crafty_crow/2009/07/how-to-make-a-kite-tutorial.html

That grassy field looks perfect for kite-flying!

  3. Kite was only 1.99 for the record, the better ones had dragons on them and Kate was not going for that. Also you forgot that Kate was a little nervous because she thought she was supposed to ride the kite. She asked me how high she had to go up on the kite, when we were on our way home from buying it. Fun Times!

  4. What sweet sweet pictures! I love that Kate liked her $3 kite. And that Claire is too cute sitting up in her red wagon. I just have to ask (one momma to another) does she love it, because we were thinking about getting Allie Claire one, but I wasn't sure?
