My girls are carb junkies.
I am always trying to add protein to their diets.
One of the ways I add protein is with these delicious No Bake Protein Energy Balls!
I first made them this summer as a snack for them to have before and/or after swim team.
Now that school has started, they perfect for After School Snacking!

One of the ways I add protein is with these delicious No Bake Protein Energy Balls!
I first made them this summer as a snack for them to have before and/or after swim team.
Now that school has started, they perfect for After School Snacking!
1 cup Oatmeal
1 cup Peanut Butter (I use Skippy Natural with Honey)
1/3 cup honey
1/4 cup chocolate chips
2 Tablespoons of Chia Seeds
1 Tablespoon vanilla
Directions:
Combine ingredients in a bowl. Stir.
Roll into balls. Place on a cookie sheet lined with wax paper.
Put in the refrigerator for 1-2 hours.
Eat & Enjoy!
Each batch makes between 12-14 balls.Put in the refrigerator for 1-2 hours.

I store them in a sealed tupperware lined with wax paper & keep them in my fridge.
My girls absolutely love these No Bake Protein Energy Balls.
They
are the perfect after school snack and a great on-the-go snack when we
have soccer practice & other after school activities.
**I
don't send these to school with them because they have peanut butter in
them and we have a lot of kids with peanut allergies at our school, so I
don't even want to risk that. If you have a peanut allergy, you can sub the peanut butter for Almond Butter/Sunflower Butter, etc. I am going to make an Almond Butter batch this week*
My girls call these cookie dough balls, because that is exactly what they taste like...cookie dough!

These look delicious! Have you heard that Chia seeds expand in your stomach making you feel fuller than you actually are? I don't know if that is a fact that you would care about, but just FYI. I have heard to use flax seed as a substitute for Chia seeds. I love your blog and get so excited when a post from you shows up in my blog feed. Keep up the good work, Please!!

ReplyDeleteI got my Chia Seeds at Trader Joes, I am not sure where they are at a normal grocery store...hmmm...maybe in the health food secttion?

May I ask Mel, did you make up this recipe yourself or were inspired by another recipe? Just curious and interested to find other links to healthy homemade snacks. I've been making different types of homemade granola and granola bars using Two Peas and Their Pod recipes. DeleteHi Kate! Thanks for the comment! Chia seeds are so good for you. I add them to smoothies all the time! I did make up this recipe. I am always trying out & experimenting things in the kitchen :) During the summer, I was mixing peanut butter, honey, chia seeds & chocolate chips in a bowl for me & the kids to dip apples into. It was a great dip & full of protien and delicious and I was making it almost everyday. I got to thinking that I could add oatmeal to the mixture, and roll them into balls for an easy on the go snack! So, that is how the dip morphed into the balls! :)

DeleteMade these today, and my kids are obsessed! Found some cocoa & coconut flavored chia seeds mixed with flaxseeds at our local grocery store to use- instant hit! Every recipe of yours that we've tried has been awesome- thank you so much for sharing!

I will have a go at making these as it is a recipe that I have been searching for - that is a protein ball without the dates & coconut as I am allergic to these ingredients. I also can't eat honey but will substitute this with rice syrup instead. Do you think they need the sweetness of the honey as rice syrup is not as sweet... I give it a go anyway.Thank you
