Coffee Addicts Unite. Coffee for a Good Cause + A Keurig Giveaway!

It's no secret that I love coffee.
I mean, I really, really, really love coffee.
I remember when my coffee addiction started.
I was 16 years old & a junior in High School.
The school parking lot was under construction, so if you wanted to get a decent parking spot on the street, you had to be at school by 7am. I know.
Every morning, my dad would make extra coffee and when I drove myself to school at 6:45 am, I would bring a travel mug full of coffee.
No cream. No sugar. Just straight black coffee. I just liked the way it tasted.
I was totally hard core in high school.
Now, I like a splash of vanilla creamer in my coffee.
Since I have been a coffee drinker for so long, I consider myself a coffee snob/connoisseur.
Pretty much the only thing that gets me out of bed each morning is knowing that I will have a cup of coffee a few minutes after I get up.
I don't shower first, I don't eat breakfast first. I drink my coffee.
When BlogHer & Green Mountain Coffee® asked if I would post about coffee, I jumped at the opportunity!
Green Mountain Coffee is great because not only does it taste good, it offers one of the largest selections of Fair Trade Certified™ coffees in the U.S.
What is Fair Trade Certified coffee, you might ask yourself?

Fair Trade is a global movement to help improve the lives of farmers and their families.  It provides a fair price to coffee farmers, resulting in a great cup of coffee and a better quality of life in coffee-farming communities.
How does Fair Trade Certified™ coffee benefit coffee farmers?

Most family coffee farmers live in remote locations and lack access to credit, so they are vulnerable to middlemen who offer cash for their coffee at a fraction of its value.  Fair Trade assures coffee farmers a fair price for unroasted, green coffee.  Fair Trade also links farmers directly with coffee companies like Green Mountain Coffee Roasters, Inc. (“GMCR”), creating long-term sustainability.
Fair Trade is one critical way that Green Mountain Coffee provides consumers high quality coffee while helping to ensure a better quality of life for coffee farmers and their communities.
In 2000, Green Mountain Coffee Roasters, Inc. became one of the first roasters in the country to offer Fair Trade Certified coffees.

Fair Trade means a great cup of coffee for you and a better quality of life for farmers
By purchasing Fair Trade Certified Green Mountain Coffee, you  help coffee farmers receive a fair price for their beans, resulting in a great cup of coffee and a better quality of life in coffee-farming communities
  Purchasing Fair Trade products…
  • helps small-scale coffee farmers and their families
  • helps keep kids in school
  • helps women support their families
This October, Green Mountain Coffee is celebrating Fair Trade Month through the “Great Coffee, Good Vibes, Choose Fair Trade” campaign.

·       This fall, award-winning musician Kelly Clarkson is teaming up with Green Mountain Coffee to share her experience visiting a coffee farm in Peru and the importance of Fair Trade.
·       In celebration of Fair Trade Month, Green Mountain Coffee is introducing Fair Trade Certified™ Three Continent Blend, which combines the flavors and aromas of three continents in one harmonious Extra Bold blend.
·       Go to www.ChooseFairTrade.com to learn more about Fair Trade and Green Mountain Coffee.
 So awesome, right?

It's like my love for coffee came back. I would definitely try Fair Trade.

  48. I am a coffee addict - my last addiction left after I quit smoking a few months ago :oD

My parents were regular customers at the local fair trade store, so they tought us to buy stuff wisely at an early age already. They were both teachers, and even bought the fair trade coffee for their colleagues at school.

I'm grown up now (well, that's what my passport says LOL), and I'm still follwing this. Fair trade coffee only. Plus everything else fair trade. Give back.

By the way: Another great plus of winning this awesome KEURIG coffee maker would be, that M (=my better half and another coffee addict) and I are moving back to the states from Germany, so we are in desperate need of a nice coffee maker to help us waking up over there :)
