Get Pin-Spired #1

So excited about our first Pin-Spired link up!
If you are new here, the idea of the link up is to use Pinterest to inspire your outfits.
(Hence the name Pin-Spired)
See if you can re-create them.
Take pics of your outfit.
Every 1st of the month, we will have a linky party for you to link up your outfits from the past month.

The 3 Hosts of the Linky Party are myself,  Sheaffer from Pinterest Told Me To and Shay from Mix & Match Family (and sister of the Bachelor!)
You can link up 1 outfit or 30 outfits, however many you want.....Totally up to you!!!
My goal, starting in January was to "shop" my closet and to try and not buy SO many clothes this year.
I am happy to say that each one of the outfits I have posted today are items that were already in my closet! It was fun to mix & match things that I wouldn't have put together if it weren't for Pinterest!
My goal is to do one Pin-Spired outfit a week as a way to stay out of my wardrobe rut that I sometimes get in!

First up, is polka dots....I got this sweater in December at Old Navy on clearance for under $10 & wasn't sure if I was going to keep it, but it was so cheap, I decided to. I looked around Pinterest & saw that polka dot sweaters were all over the place, so I paired it with a scarf, skinny jeans & some boots!
Polka Dot Sweater : Old Navy // Jeans & Boots: Target // Scarf : Macy's
Polka Dots are fun! I loved this outfit & all my students said my sweater was "fun"!

Next up, is the chambray shirt, scarf, black skinnies & brown boots. I swore I would never wear a "jean shirt". It reminds me of the mid 90's when I was in middle school & high school. But, jean shirts are back...they are called "chambray" shirts now. Same thing, different name.
In high school, I wore my jean shirt with jeans & a braided leather belt..anyone else?!?!
Chambray Shirt : Old Navy // Black Skinnies: Target  // Scarf: Local Boutique // Boots: Cathy Jean
But, in 2013, jean shirts are awesome with black skinnies & tall boots. LOVED this outfit. Will be wearing this again & again.

My sister got me a "Burberry" scarf years ago when she was in Europe.
Of course it's not a real Burberry, its a knock off, a fake.
I call it my "Furberry" (Fake Burberry)
I have always worn it with a black sweater, jeans & black boots....simple classic look.
But, all over Pinterest, Burberry scarves were being worn with black leggings and brown boots.
It was just a few months ago that I jumped on the black with brown bandwagon.
Let me tell you, I am staying on that bandwagon. You have got to try it. LOVE.
Creme Shirt : Gap // Black Skinnies & Boots: Target  // Scarf: Random Street Vendor in Europe
I loved this outfit & felt so sophisticated wearing my Furberry scarf.
This outfit has a funny story. The day I wore it, Luke and I went to the grocery store after work.
As I was checking out & putting my shopping cart back, this guy (in his late 40's) comes up to me and says, "You really pulled that outfit off". I didn't think I heard him right, so I said "What?" He said, "Your outift. I like it." I didn't even know what to say....so I mumbled "Thank You" and rushed back to my car carrying Luke.
So, beware...if you wear a "Furberry" scarf you may get hit on by older men. Watch out. LOL.

Moving on to my final Pin-spired outfit....
I love mustard (the color and the condiment). I have SO many clothes that are the color mustard. I have been Pin-spired to pair mustard with gray, black & stripes.
Mustard Cardigan & Boots: Target // Striped Shirt & Cords : Old Navy // Necklace : Forever 21
(You can't tell, because my camera is covering my face, but I am TOTALLY making the same face as the model on the left......)
I switched this outfit up & didn't wear jeans with it, but instead paired it with my grey cords. I liked the way the gray looked with the mustard & black. I am a fan!!! You will be seeing a lot more mustard in my outfits!

There you have it, my 4 Pin-Spired outfits!
This challenge was so fun. And, I loved that all of it came from my closet!

  8. I totally rocked the jean shirt in the nineties--light wash jeans, white tee underneath, penny loafers and everything had to be tucked in. My stars, that was uncomfortable.

This was so fun and it really pulled me out of my fashion rut. Thanks, Mel! XOXO
