A Day at the Beach

One of the perks about living in California is that if you drive 1-2 hours in any direction, you can end up at the beach, the mountains, wine country, farm land or desert.
We have quite the scenic variety here in the Golden State.
Even though we live just a short car ride to the beach, we rarely go.
I know, I know.
The girls put on their Summer list that they wanted to go to the beach & since we aren't going to Tahoe this summer (for the first time EVER...can't travel far because baby is on the way) I decided that we would do a day trip to the beach.
We went during the week thinking it would be less crowded, but we just so happened to go the day of a Junior Lifeguard Competition. The beach was PACKED with junior lifeguards & the competitions that they had going on. It made for good people watching. I think there should be a new reality TV show called "Lifeguard Moms". These moms were intense, just like Dance Moms. It was quite entertaining to watch.
The girls had fun playing in the water & sand with Kevin and I was quite content people watching & reading.
This bird kept trying to eat my Cheez-its. Rude bird. And, is it just me or do Cheez-Its taste so much better at the beach?
After several hours on the beach, it was time for an ice cream break.
One of my favorite things about going to the beach is walking around the beach towns.
Beach towns have so much character & I love the quaintness.
I loved these Victorian Beach houses that were right across the street from the beach. I think they would be so fun to stay in next summer (hint, hint)
Isn't this pink cruiser awesome? It is EXACTLY what I have been looking for.
Wouldn't it be a great push present? (hint, hint)
Despite the crowd, we had a great day at the beach & I hope to make beach trips more of an occurrence since we live so close!

And, don't forget tomorrow is The Summer Salad Swap Link up!
I have a yummy salad to share with you!

What the heck kind of ice cream does she have? It is so pretty and looks delish.

What did you think of the book? I just read Plain Truth and am going to start House Rules.
